Oculoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeon
Oculoplastic surgeons are trained as ophthalmologist who then go on to complete a one or two year fellowship program that focuses on plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, eyebrows, forehead, cheeks, orbit (bony cavity around the eye) and lacrimal (tear) system.
Katie Topping, M.D.
Dr. Katie Topping is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery. She brings a thoughtful balance of technical precision and aesthetic sensibility to every patient she treats.
After earning her medical degree from the University of North Dakota, she completed her ophthalmology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego and pursued fellowship training in oculofacial plastic surgery at Stanford University. She later returned to Naval Medical Center San Diego, where she served as Director of Oculoplastic Surgery for six years. After 13 years of active-duty service in the U.S. Navy, Dr. Topping transitioned to civilian practice.
A dedicated educator, she has trained dozens of future eye surgeons and has held academic appointments at Loma Linda University and the Uniformed Services University. Dr. Topping is a fellow of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.
